Best programmer on the market

I know this has been asked many many times but many of the posts are outdated. What is currently the best tuner on the market? I need to recalibrate the speedo for my new 40's and taller gears. I would like to get rid of the governor and torque management. I already run 91 octane so thats no concern.

GMS Diablosport Predator. You can get custom tunes with it and it's the most powerful handheld there it.

If you like to do it yourself and have a laptop go with hptuners. It is the best way to go for a custom tune since you can log, analize, and alter any function to fit your vehicle/driving. Added benefit of built in scanner software.

I would NOT recommend this if you're not an experienced tuner. There are too many things on Gen III engines to screw up. Get a tune done by a professional.

I researched this about a year ago and found that most people were most happy with the Diablo. Looks as if that is still true, but I thought I'd make sure because you know how fast technology changes. So let me get this straight- with the diablo, you can reprogrma your truck as often as you need to? If the dealer flashes my computer, I wont need to send anything out to have it redone, correct??? Also I can recalibrate the speedo as often as I need to? How do you get the custom tunes? Do they cost extra? Are the updates free? How does this rate against the westers tune?

The Westers Tune will out perform the handhelds for sure. Updates are suject to the $45.00 fee, but warranty changes are at no cost to you. Plus you can get the full purchase price credit for your next new vehicle tune. I have read many posts on many forums from people saying that they had a handheld tuner at first and then went to a custom tune , stating that the custom tune out performed the handhelds. I want the performance all the time so I see know reason to continually tune and de-tune a PCM. Especially sense a PCM will take some time to adjust to the new tuning. If a dealer flashes your tune from Westers they will send you out a new tune and you just have to send the core back to them. I have never had my tune reflashed and have read of very few people that have. If you do have a need to re-program your PCM that often then a hanheld is probably the best way to go, but if you are looking for the most performance than a custom tune is the right choice IMO...

I have been running a Westers Tune on my truck for a lot of miles now and I can say that I would not like to drive a factory tuned truck period, now that I know what a custom tune can do...

I think it is about $500.00 You can tune 2 dif vehicles and code scan any obd2 system. This is about the price of a mail order tune (westers/nelson). While there is a learning curve I think it is the ultimite custom tune. No mail order changes to someone elses specs. You can tune for your style and change it at will. I like to do things myself anyway. Also like having the code scanner built in.

I was just at the site $499 for 2 vehicles. (A handheld or mail order tune is only good for 1 vehicle) Just a side note they consider a vehicle by year/model not vin. So you can tune as many 04 sierras as you want and it would still be one vehicle.

The $4000 is for the licences to use on any vehicle. You would get this if you were going into the tuning bussness. (like nelso/wester)

To someone that wants to tune their own, HPTuners is good, but the learning curve is huge. With Wester's, the statement "mail order tune is only good for 1 vehicle" is not correct. A Wester's tune can be transferred to your next vehicle for only the difference in price between them, if any. This is a LIFETIME service!!! 100% of the price you paid credited toward the next vehicle, and the next, and the next...........

I have never had a Diablo tune...but I did have superchips......I have a custom tune from Westers now....the difference between that and the superchips tune is night and day....

Custom tunes for the diablosport are free of charge and you can have as many of them made as you want. You will not have to ever exchange pcm's, updates are controlled through email. Once you have a custom tune on your pc, just upload it to the predator and download it from the predator to your pcm. No shipping fees and no pcm swaps. They can even eliminate torque management, as well as anything else you want.

I'm comming from the diesel world, where when you tune your truck via computer...you need to make sure to upgrade all the other components for reliability factors. I now have a 2007 Silverado V-Max, if I were to tune her, do I have to worry about my transmission and cooling system?
