I don't think I will do the Nav upgrade but want to put a better AMP in to replace the Non Lux Bose I got in my 2004 Yukon XL. If Linda does not come up with a used Lux, what amp offers good sound and ease of installation/interface with the Bose, Can you hook tem up in tandem?

How do you tell a Bose Lux vs. non-Lux? I have an 04 Yukon XL with all of the hot options (except NAV). How do I tell?

If I have a non-Lux, how hard is the transisiton to Lux and what does it buy me?

Look at thread in this same section titled " Nav and six disk changer in a Silverado" and you will find 11 pages about your questions.

Likely, you don't have the Lux amp as OEM, unless you have the Y91 on the sticker (glovebox).

Other indicators are: A migrange in the EQ, "Spacious" in the audio sound selections AND the noise cancelling volume. (Not the speed-compensating one).

You will likely need to change out your HU to work with the amp. GM TIS may not have the combo with your VIN to permit the HU reprogram. Look for someone who may have removed a UB1 or similar HU from a luxury vehicle to install a nav. Then all you have to do is install the Lux amp, rewire the connectors on it, plug in/install the proper HU and clear it's theftlock.

Confusing, but you can do it.

Same type radio.. ie UB1 ~ UB1.

You may be able to work around that by installing your HU in a lux vehicle. (Denali/Escalade), use their VIN, Clear the theftlock, and have the dealer get the TIS connection to download the files to reprogram your radio that way. Then put theirs back, put your's back, reset the theftlock. (Presuming you have the Y91 amp installed .)

Not so easy, and certainly tricky. Note the Nav radios don't program that way.

Not only that, it was only explained to me. I hadn't tried it!

Just find a similar Lux-version HU like I mentioned prior...

Hey Sperry or Linda et al. Any suggestions on an aftermarket amp if no Lux's become available? New from dealer the Lux is $650.00. Thanks. Boomer

i dont think you can really change the amp in those because im not mistakin they are really small unless you want to rerun your speakers 2 a new amp.. thats prob the way i would run! i would prob get a 300/2 Jl audio amp.. they are costly but nice! you'll never have to work about amp failure... but i know nothing about Nav systems yet i will be getting one soon for my safari...

good luck!!

Dealer's, I expect that price. GM PartsDirect:

But they rip you for shipping and the return policy stinks (if they even have one).

#15199884 $298.82

#15112662 $309.60

These don't come up:

#15199992 X

#15114445 X

#15191601 X

#15054675 X

My # (15199992) was discontinued, so I hadn't reviewed the "best" amp, or the suggested replacement at this point.

You would need the NON-Lux for aftermarket amps. The Lux HU's need to comm with the Lux amp, and has to be installed for an interface to work the aftermarket unit.
