All my rigs, past and present, sport Warn winches on the front. Now i need one for the 2001 2500HD. Not many choices out there. Buckstop looks good, but really heavy and $$$. Same for the Warn. i want to avoid all those upper hoops, etc. ARB will offer a bull bar in ther spring, but cannot wait that long. Will need to accept a Warn M12000.

 

Ideas or suggestions anyone?

I have the trail ready front bumper. I put it on this summer and I love the looks. I had it linexed other wise it looks like the first picture that wileE1 has. I welded on a 2 inch receiver and use the warn portable winch system. That way I can install on the front or back as needed. So far not dissapointed :cheers:

Try www.ranchhand.com. They are the best that I have seen. I built my bumber for my jeep, but if I wanted a winch bumper on my truck I would put a ranchhand on there and never look back.

just ordered the trailready unit and am hoping for a pre-xmas delivery-- a good reason to 'excuse' myself to the workshop, hehehe. if anyone is interested, will post write up on install.

Has anybody installed the Warn hidden mount winch bumper on a newer HD? I want to keep the factory clean frontend look but want to put my winch on it someway. The problem is the the Warn setup says it will only work with thier special "short Drum" winch witch only has 50 feet of cable.and I allready have a x9000i winch from my old truck and don't want to install a big setup that sticks out on the front end. any ideas out there?

Its a great unit. Its easy to install and is one heavy duty unit. Did you get the optional guard with it?

No, i opted out of the upper hoop assembly-- i like the clean look of the unit w/out the hoop. My 91 GMC has the Warn 'classic' step bumper but, alas, its not available for the '01HD...and i'll accept my warn M12000!!!

why are all the ranch hand bumpers powder coated, is the powder coating that much more durable over a stainless steel finish? If yes, then why are some grill guards guaranteed for life while powder coated brush guards only have a 5 year guarantee?

They sometimes coat them because most guys paint them to match the truck or trim. I haven't seen a stainless steel bumper(must be expensive) so cannot comment on that. The powder coat is pretty durable and will last for quite a while. But the problem is if you scrape them or if they get pitted they will start to rust under the coating and pretty soon they will flake off. I had mine line x because I push with it and hit things(lousy driver :chevy: ) and it hasn't punctured the finish yet.

I have a customer who has a early 70's hunting Jeep CJ, the entire body is black RHINO coated. It's not my thing but I can see the advantages for bouncing off the trees.

 

On Ranch Hand bumpers:

I have a Black powder coated Ranch Hand winch mount front bumper on my '01 HD and it looks really nice. What was just stated about the powder coating is true, mine has lite rust on scratches and at a few welding seams after 4 years, nothing noticeable though. I used my front licence plate to cover the winch hole as I don't have/need a winch. They use some seriously strong steel, it took me about 30 minutes to drill two holes to mount the plate. I burnt up a few bits in the process. I was cussing it before I finished. Once while I was filling up the gas tank a guy in a F250 asked how much the bumpers cost and where to get them. He said he was Houston Police Officer and had worked serveral accident investigations when a truck equiped with one of these Ranch Hand bumpers had just ripped through a car relatively unharmed. He was very impressed them and wanted to get some for his truck.

I saw an Rundell (or Runnell) or something bumper on a F350 on the highway this last week. Looked very nice, nice finish, matched the truck.

 

Although it looked expensive as well.

my reason too, if I get in an accident I want to be able to go through it relatively unharmed(me and my truck) and I want to be able to hit shopping carts in the parking lots and not worry about getting dents in my bumper...lol

 

anyone know if a stainless steel bumper replacement exists?

      My brother has an Escalade. The warranty has expired so he told his wife to go to the Valvoline quick lube he uses some times. They told her if her car was a 2020 and newer 6.2 engine they wouldn’t touch it. Hers is a 2019, so they did the oil change.

      The oil filter has NOTHING To do with oil leak. GM sources parts from 1,000's of vendors and as with anything mass produced, flaws are unavoidable.    Putting a larger oil filter will do nothing but satisfy emotions. The OEM filter is designed for the engine and perfectly capable of handling the demands on the engine. Oversize oil filter could result in reduced flow and overall lower oil pressure.

      You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
