My trip to the dealer...

I dropped my truck off Monday for a few warrenty items and here is what was done. Tis is printed straight from the receipt:

1). I had some issues about the trans shifting funny, kinda sluggish sometimes, the "ticking" sound for a few seconds after a cold start up. The FIX-Recalibrated the PCM to correct some drivability concerns.

2). Both front windows rattled and made strange noises when raising and lowering. FIX-Removed both front door panels. Found loose regulator bolts. Applied locktite and reinstalled bolts.

3). Fuel Pump making a buuzzing/humming sound. FIX-No problem found.

4). Throttle sticks occationally. FIX-Found throttle body within technical Service Bulletin 00-06-04-007A Specs. (Date Code of 1349) Replaced throttle body per TSB.

5). 3rd door hard to close when cold. FIX-Could not duplicate, but did lubricate latch asembly as a courtesy.

Now for the two that kinda made me mad.

6). Drivers seat makes lots of squeaking/popping noises. Mostly when in a turn but also when sitting still and just moving in the seat. FIX-Could not hear noise. No problem found.

7). Wind noise from rear quarter windows. FIX-No wind noise present during test drive. Only noise heard was wind passing over windows.

Now, as soon as I got in the seat, it started making noises. I then drove up the road where I could get over 30-40 MPH and I could hear the wind noise. I went back to the dealer and told them I needed some one to come out to my truck so I could shoe them the seat making noises and have them ride with me so they could hear the wind noise. I told the tech that the wind noise was written up as "the only noise heard was wind passing over the window" and then I said The receipt just described the wind noise I'm complaining about. After he rode with me, In the back seat by the way, he agreed there was a problem.

He ordered 2 new quarter windows that the TSB covers and also ordered a new seat riser, which I understand to be the frame part of the seat.

For those that have had the quarter windows replaced under TSB 99-08-48-001A, are the latches different than before? Do the lock or secure tighter than the original ones? My dealer just ordered the new ones for me today and I forgot to ask them if the latches were different.

So after everything was over I was happy. Sorry for the novel.

My truck goes in Tuesday afternoon... ( he'll give me a loaner) to have the rear quarter windows replaced....  My dealer wants the truck for a hlf day to coordinate the window deal with the installer.  The tranny reprogram and the power control module reprogram seem to be working out great!!  The truck shifts out of first later, and for the most part the torque converter locks up later when under acceleration.  I'm going to ask him tuesday about the light accelleration and why it still locks up...   I'm turnig 1100 rpm at 40 mph...

I had the rear quarter windows replaced today and the minor wind noise problem is gone.  The latches now close with an authoritative click, the way I feel they should have in the first place.  They also changed the transfer case fluid because I told them I had a slight noise/vibration in 4x4 high when accelerating.  Both problems were corrected under service bullitens.  They thought they fixed the rattle in the passenger rear door but 1 mile out of the parking lot I turned around and went back and took the tech for a ride.  He said it was the same rattle he fixed earlier, but when the window replacement specialist did the windows he thought he must have done something to the door trim panel to cause it to come back.  They were very apologetic and said that they weren't going to screw around trying to fix it again and ordered me a whole new trim panel for the door.  Once again the truck was picked up clean and washed.  I couldn't be happier about the service they give me...  except that I'll have to make one final trip back.  they give me a loaner everytime so I guess it's just a minor inconveniance.  I did notice the bill (dealers copy) showed something over ? for todays service...  I'm glad they have warranties to get the bugs out!!!

Mine are getting replaced Friday.  Along with the seat riser on the drivers side.  I guess that's the seat back.  It squeaks alot.

I noticed your truck has the dark tint on the back windows.  Did the replacement quarter windows have the dark tint too?

Thanks

Yes they are replaced with dark tint...  it almost looks like it is a little darker than the stock dark tint.  I'll check it out a litle closer today.

Well, I got my truck back today and I'm pretty satisfied. They replaced the quarter windows, but I was told to leave one of them open for 24 hours, so that when I close the doors, the pressure doesn't pop the new windows loose. I really havn't got to check them out, I'll do that tomorrow. They ordered a seat riser to fix my sqeaking drivers seat, but they were sent the wrong part. They re-ordered it again along with the "Top tether hardware package for child restraint seats". I've never seen the tethers, so I'm curious to find out what they actually look like.

BTW, the new window P/N are:

88935200-Left Quarter Window (Factory dark tint)

88935201-Right Quarter Window (Factory dark tint)

Thanks to everyone who answered the questions I had about the windows.
