When I tried to switch to Auto 4X4 the light blinks and it does not engage. Sometimes it does switch but switches back on its own. The same blinking with 4Hi and 4Lo. Can anyone help?

I have had the same problem. I have replaced the actuator and the vacum switch on top of transfer case to no avail. It goes into 4wd and then it will pop out. If the rear brakes loose then it will engage again

If you have the Autotrac t-case (4 buttons) then it is more than likely the switch on the dash. There is no vacuum switch on the Autotrac cases. The accuator going bad would still let the lights illuminate properly and make it seem like you're in 4WD...the front wheels just wouldn't get power. The switch is relatively cheap, and a common failure.

JimsZR2, what's up buddy? :troll:

I have had the same problem...replaced all three vacum lines..the actuator under the battery....the dash switch.....the vacum switch on transfer case...still the same problem.. will go smoothky into 4wd under 30 mph anything above is a whir and a clunk...will then sometimes pop out but will engage if rear tires break loose...97 s-10 any ideas. The vacum actuator works i have tested it with the battery out of the tray and seen it pull the cable... could it be the cable where it goes into front axle.
