Alli tranny whining

On my last tow run with the 12k# 5th wheel I was running up a slightly graded section of the 40 heading to Barstow, Ca. I forgot to put the truck in race/haul mode and noticed a whine coming from the tranny. I looked at the guages and the tranny was a little warmer than usual. I was running about 2700 RPM's at 60mph. I turned on haul mode, the tranny dropped a gear and the noise went away. About 20 minutes later the temp was back to normal.

Couldn't quite figure it out as everything was pretty much normal and this isn't the first time I forgot about engaging race/haul mode. Nothing was slipping and I had no problems climbing the Cajon pass at 65 or tranny/compression breaking after the summit.

The truck is a 2003 Sierra 2500HD, Crew Cab, Short bed, 8.1l with the 5 speed Allison.

Thanks guys.....

My Allison whines too, I don't think that is a problem,

I think they all do.

Mine does it too. There is supposed to be a TSB on the tranny pump. I asked for some help on this topic but I never recieved any. I would take it to the dealer. When I get a chance I am going to get my replaced under warranty.

Where on the internet can you find

a list of TSBs? I knew at one time but

now I can't find them!

There are 365 for 2003 sierra's. That's a ton of info to dig through but it's worth it :ughdance: I Found the TSB for my memory seat going nuts, still looking for the tranny pump. If you find a TSB and have extended warranty then is there no deductible?
