6.0 w/Allison

A guy in my town told my dad that he had a 6.0 with a Allison Transmission, Im like i dont think so, im 99.999% sure that it isn't true. Someone back me up here.......

Have to be custom, Allison's only come with the 8.1 or Duramax

If you want for sure evidence, tell him to look at his RPO codes in his glove box, the M74, is for the Allison. He probably has MT1, which is the auto that comes with the 6.0 Litre.

I am 100% sure that it wouldnt come out of the factory like that.

If your dad knows him pretty well and can look at the truck. Just look under the truck at the tranny. If it doesnt have a spin on filter like the engine oil filter, its not an Allison.

i dont thinks its possible even if he had some

luck and found something to mate it up to the

6.0 i dont think that engine has enough power

to even run it i do know the alli takes alot to run

Weird...your right you can select it??? It says it's available on 2500HD and 3500 2005 modles.....now whats interesting is that on the GMC website it says the Allison is only avail. with the Duramax or the 8.1

I will believe this when I see it...Granted, it would be very cool, but I'm skeptical.

One of the reasons I ordered my CC with the 8.1 was to get the Allison Tranny. NOt that I tow a bunch, or anything like that...just have this philosophy -- when ordering a truck, always, repeat, ALWAYS get the biggest engine available. There is not substitute for cubic inches!

That is the very reason I traded in my '04 6.0L for an '04 8.1L....so I could get the Allison. Don't get me wrong, the bigger engine has proven to be perfectly suited for towing and when you add the Allison into the equation, the whole thing is perfect!! Not bashing the 6.0L but find the 8.1L to be a much better engine with the same mileage.

A guy in church was asking me about my truck a few weeks ago, and this past Sunday told me he ordered an 05 like mine, he even told me he had the option to put the Alli under it with a 6.0L? I was a little confused, so when I went home tried to build one on GM.com and it let me. Maybe it's possible:)

When my buddy ordered his 02 2500 HD for sema he had the option of getting the allison and he was sorry he did not spend the extra $$$ as for what he did with his hd he could have used the better trans so yes it is possible...

Amen on the MPG thing...

And I will believe the 6.0/Allison combo when i see it.
