Alloy wheel question

Question for those out there with alloy wheels and the thin metal center cover.  What's the best way to get that cover off (you know....the one with the fake lug nuts)  without scratching or denting the insert and wheel? .  Just shove a screwdriver in there and pop it off?  The cap is flush with the wheel, and I really don't want to scratch the wheel or dent the cap. Any suggestions?

get a 7/8 socket

 

Turn those "fake" black plastic lug nuts just like you would regular bolts.  Loosen them all up and it should come off easily
