sliding backglass

noticed factory has come to their senses and started installing a sliding backglass on the 2005 as an option.

Yes. I ordered that for my 05 and then got a cap with a sliding window. Works great, except that it is taking a while for me to look through three windows in the back as compared to one on the Suburban.

I have had several trucks with the sliding back window. If I opened the window all the dirt from the bed would blow in. My last 3 trucks including this one don't have the option which I am glad. But it should be offered as an option as I can see there are people who use it, such as with a cap or just to have a place to throw there beer cans(just kidding)

Wish my 04 had a slider, I can never seem to get the beer cans to land in the bed when I toss them out the side window....lol....just kidding too, but I really would like a factory sliding window

Ford F150's have a power rear slider. Hit the button, toss the can - bingo! Add a big black dog and a level - you're a contractor!

According to my dealer they stop putting them in because they couldn't get them to stop leaking. I guess they finally fixed that issue... I had one on my S10 and I miss it on the 2500HD now.

Had a slider on my reg cab ford and really used it aloot, but now that I've got s CC 2500HD I opted not to get it since I won't have a cap on it and you can't get the defrost option on the slider.

If the slide came with the defroster, it would be in my truck.

I locked myself out of my truck once and the only way I was able to break in was thru the slider.

I have the defroster too but I would gladly trade that for the slider. I can't say that I have ever used the defroster for the window but I do use it on the mirrors.

I believe on my 05 extra cab that the rear window defroster and the mirror defrosters work together. I am still reading the book and playing with the switches.

I live at 7,200 ft, high in the rockies and the rear window will frost overnight, I need the defroster on that window more than I need the slider. If I lived in a warmer climate, I would definitley have the slider instead.

Has anyone noticed a kit that coverts the solid rear glass to retractable like on the new Tundras? I remeber a coversion kit was avaliable in the eighties for the then new GM trucks. I would like that.

Yeah, my parents old early 80's Suburban (before they were cool) had the power window in the back, that was cool! :seeya:

I would need defrost on the a rear slider, it's a lifesaver! And I miss not having a slider, had one on the 94 reg cab, but I don't think I could make it work with the crew cab.

I miss the sliders too....I had on on my 87 and 95 pickups and they were nice in the summer..AS LONG AS THE BED WAS CLEAN...My 02 and 04 don't have it and I have never used the defrost in either vehicle. My next truck will have one and it will also have a tonno or roll-up cover as well.
