Body Lift with Step Bars

Recommended Posts

I have a 2002 1/2 ton Silverado with a 3" body lift. My Westin step bars have the bracket hanging down past the bars due to the body lift and the way I rotated the mounting bracket to accomodate the higher elevation of the body. Any suggestions to improve the install of the brackets and steps or would the brackets from a HD work better as they have about the same amount of frame exposed?

Thanks,

Jeff

I just redrilled the brackets that came with my steps 3" higher. Then I took my cut-off tool and cut the bottom of the bracket off so it doesn't hang down. Not sure if this would work with yours, don't know what your brackets look like. Chris

Here's how I did mine. http://tommy3z71.homestead.com/cps_steps.html

The first part of the page just has some info about when I installed them before the B/L. The second part has updated info from modifying the brackets and such after the B/L.

There is a link in the Technical section of this site with the same info, but it didn't seem to be working right for me.

Good luck.
