20s or 22s?

Instead of getting some off-road tires for the Silverado (When I get it), I think I am going to get some SS rims.

If I get 20s do I have to lower the rear, so the Silverado will be level? What is a good size tire for a 20" rim, and I still have protection from curbs? The Silverado will be a manual with the 4.8 .. will performance still be okay? Do I need to replace the stock brakes?

Sorry for some stupid questions.

The stock tires on the SS 20" rims are 275/55/20, amd have plenty of curb protection. If you go any lower profile, you'll lose that protecton. I have them on my truck, and I love them....totally different ride than the stock splashy tires. I lowered my rear 2"...it looks better leveled out. 4x4's are taller, so lowering is a good idea if you want a sporty look...fills in the wheel wells more. I am in the process of posting pics...let you know when they're up. Good luck.

I like the wheels. Wish I had the 04 chromes though. Tire siez.... Id go with a lower profile tire than the 275/55. Try a 285/50/20 or 275/45/20. Id try a 275/45/20 if I were in your shoes. My 285/50's rub slightly when turning right at full-lock. If you ever want to lower your truck, do not get the 285/50/20's!!!!
