Ordering new truck

I am getting ready to order a new 2500HD Crew Cab. Is there a website (other than chevrolet.com) where I can option the truck? I noticed that Chevrolet.com does not include a few of the options that I'm looking to get - dual alternators for ex. What site does the dealer use to put the order together?

You can spec out the truck at www.edmunds.com but I think you'll end up with the same as Chevy.com. When dealer specs out a truck I believe Chevy has it's own network that is unavailable to outsiders.

Try costcoauto.com. They're invoice price and MSRP matched my truck exactly when I ordered it.

 

What kind of deal are you getting on the order. I paid $300 over invoice and I got all rebates available at the time of delivery (not at the time of order).

$300 over sounds pretty good! I haven't talked to the dealer yet - was planning to do it this weekend. I'm HOPING that they have some sort of cash back/finance incentives when I get the truck. Right now, the rebates on the 05's don't look too hot. I hope they have at least some deals going on when I take delivery.

You have to really want a GM truck if you are playing around with GM's site. Full of bugs, slow, and infested with Java features that do not work in all browsers. I gave up. I used Edmunds site to map out my options (www.edmunds.com).

Daubs, are there any options you didn't check?

Engine Block Heater @ $35 on mine. Everything else looks about the same, except the engine, transmission and rear axle ratio. My '03 has 6.0, auto, and 4.10. Mine also opted for the "Trailering Special Equipment" ($215) instead of the "HD Trailering Equipment".

When they (P.O. or Dealer?) ordered mine, they opted for the downgrade from 6-disk to 1 CD + Cassette. Who uses cassettes any more? I'd rather have the 6-disk! They saved $200... I'll bet I can't re-upgrade for that! Ratsenfratsen...

The chevy build your own site has a few problems from time to time. I was spec'ing out a truck the other day and the 8100 option didn't appear. I wrote the chevy ...web manager?....about it and he said it was still an option...duh....but the site has problems on occasion. The last I looked....a week or so ago...the dual alternators were there.

Yea, there were a few. Roof marker lamps, dual alternators, and something else I'm forgetting.

 

As a kid I remember my Dad ordering his 1976 K-20HD 4x4 from the factory. I thought that was really cool and always wanted to order one. I've got a great wife who said "go for it." My dealer was wonderful (he ought to be...this was the fourth new truck I had leased or purchased since 1999)

 

He swapped out my 245's for 285 Revo's and installed the steps and mud flaps before I even saw the truck. Got it for invoice (not $45k). And you CANNOT beat 0% financing! I had to jump on that one while it was still available. Wife's Burban is 0% also.
