Tire Rotation

I am not sure how I should be moving the tires on my 2000 GMC Dually around for rotation? Just for routine maintenance I don't know the pattern to follow. Also would anyone know the torque for the wheels?? They are just the cheap steel ones.

Thanks

Jason

The owner's manual shows the tire rotation pattern. In fact, they show two different ones whether or not you want to run the spare through the mix.

Lugnut torque for these is shown in the manual at 140 lb-ft, but I wouldn't do that on steel wheels if it was me. I'd probably go for around 100 on stamped steel wheels. I think it's 80-90 for older vehicles with steel wheels.

1. Spare to Right Front

2. Right Rear Outside to Right Rear Inside

3. Right Front to Right Rear Outside

4. Right Rear Inside to Left Front

5. Left Rear Outside to Left Rear Inside

6. Left Rear Inside to Spare

7. Left Front to Left Rear Outside

I found the above in Google Groups somewhere. It's not a picture, which is worth a thousand more words...

Why in the world would someone keep an owner's manual?! Just in case they get another one just like it?

If nobody else posts the proper rotation schedule, I'll try to get you a pic or scan from my manual, which is at home right now.

Good link GM-Tech!

However, it doesn't show rotation for Dooleys.

The '03 Silverado manual (at the same link) does show it on p. 5-75

There ya go, Jason! Ask about tire rotation and you get a manual to go with it! What a bargain!

By the way, I really like the 2000 manual, especially the hyperlinks in the pdf file! Point and click is nice...
