Is this a broken fusible link? (pictures)

The vehicle is a 1994 GMC Safari 2wd with the 4300 vortec. W engine.

 

One day this group of wires just fell from under the dash. It looks as though it could be a fusible link. I looked for so long and and I can't seem to find where they fell from. I tried looking at a haynes manual but it was of no help to me.

 

Does anybody know what these wires are for or where they could have possibly fell from? I'd like to get it fixed.

Looks like cruise control switch wires. Actually, it's the connector end that's the giveaway, even though it's broken. The older models had what looked sorta like an edgeboard connector on the switch side of the harness.

I think you're right because the cruise control isn't working!

 

Do you know where they actually broke off from? I'm not sure where to start looking. Will it be as simple as cutting that broken piece off and soldering them back together?

Well, the other end should be close by. Take the broken one and wave it around under the column. The other connector won't be any farther away than what it can reach.

 

It's a black, square connector. Not flat like the one you have in the photo. Seems to me it had a clip that would hold it onto another harness, but that's from memory. I might be thinking of something else.

 

Sure, no reason you couldn't just splice the individual wires together and eliminate both connectors. I don't recall if the wires are the same color on both connectors, but they usually are with GM. We're generally not like the Jap cars whose wires change color twenty times before it reaches its ultimate destination.
