CD player dead at 4mos.

The CD player finally upped and died after giving 4 whole months of semi-operation. The problems started when I first got the truck, as the CD player would lock onto a track but wouldn't play. Only ejecting the disc and re-inserting would get the CD back into normal operation.

However, the other day the CD player didn't want to eject the disc at all. After holding the eject button for about 5 seconds, the disc finally came out but now the CD mechanism won't accept a disc at all. Looks like a good time to go ahead and put in the Nav system.

05,

I got my 1500 Crew Cab in July, shortly thereafter I expereinced the CD player not resuming play after either I stopped the CD to go to radio or if after switching off. Also on occassion it got were it would start skipping for no apparent reason. It proved to be fairly sporadic.

I went in for my first warranty service last week and told them CD player's behavior, first service writer looked at me like I was stupid and said they would have to have it happen while there. But based on service order description of work it only mentions they pulled radio to obtain numbers to order a replacement. I suspect GM already knows there were some defective radios out there else they would have fed me the same cock-and-bull line they always feed about not being able to reproduce the problem and everything operating with normal parameters.

At any rate I hope you enjoy your 05, I've enjoyed my crew cab thus far.

how it lasted 4 months. when I bought my truck in 2002 the cd player lasted 2 weeks and then quit. I then had to wait a week for the dealer to order another one. To say I was pissed :) would be putting it mildly, but 82,000 miles later that has been the only problem I have had

I wish I could say I've had no issues, mine are annoying problems and one never should have been. I took delivery of the truck and after I got hom noticed the passenger side B-pillar had a stress blemish, a day later noticed so did the driver's side. All I can figure is they put the tailgate extender inside during shipment and it made the stress marks on the pillars. So not a great problem. The C-pillar cover on the passenger side rattles and found it loose two days after delivery, snapped it back but it keeps coming loose, even with dealer making an effort to put it back in place.

At any rate I will revisit selling dealer once more to pick up the new radio then adios to them, they've lost my service business due to multiple customer service blunders.

the radio on our STS has been replace twice in 2 years, but never had a problem with the trucks radio.

My surround sound a home died :) It will take the shop 2 weeks before they even look at it.

So getting radio in your truck replace in a week really is not bad.

At least make the dealer get you a replacement before you swap. Those cd players are worth a chunk.

Oh please!!!!!!!!! You are scaring my '05 Crew Cab! It is the first vehicle I have had in DECADES in which there wasn't a return-to-the-dealer-and-gripe for a warranty issue. And I have a very discriminatory eye and ear.

Admittedly, I did question the dealer about the rear dome light area of the liner. You can push the assembly up and it won't stay up---makes a clank sound as you so this. The entire light assembly will rise up along with the liner for about an inch. My impression was that it wasn't "catching" to whatever holds that part of the liner up. Sooooo, we went to several other crew cabs to check out their rear dome light area of the liner and they were doing the same thing. Identical. I let it go, blaming it on some weird design.

But, that is it.... Nothing seems to be messing up. I think I had better :) or this truck might get some ideas.

This is only my second trip back to the dealer, did not expect them but service writer did not tell me they were replacing the radio, it has been a problem free truck. My 2002 was relatively good truck as well, never had any major mechnical issues just as I said annoying things.

Other truck would forget how to shift properly on occassion so it was reprogrammed a three times, once to fix shifting with factory spec, once with dealer moving shift points around to the point of not even hitting overdrive until about 65MPH, and finally to put it back to factory specs.

I am growing old I guess because I find I have less and less patience with dealerships, often no better than the corner shops, all they got on them is a parts stockpile and better diagnostics tools they believe before they believe what the owner lays out.

I'm definately going to get the radio exchanged under warranty before I do the Nav swap. I used to work for Delphi/Delco so I'll snoop around and see if any of my old co-workers have ever heard of this problem. Hopefully I'll get some useful info that I can post an update on.

05-Z71- I think I may have the same problem starting. It's happened about ten times now. It seems to do it when I have shut the truck off and then start up again, it freezes on one track, won't play, have to eject it and insert it again and it works fine. I haven't had any problems skipping or freezing in the middle of play though, just won't go once I start the truck up.
