I found out about the Undercover brand hard tonneau covers. I'm looking to get something I can take on and off easy and at 58lbs this looks like the way to go! Just wanted to see if anyone has one and how you like it. I have the heavy fiberglass one and it's got to go! Let me know if you have one and what you think of it! Thanks!

Have you seen the foldacovers? That's what I have and love it. Though I don't really remove it. When installed you can fold it up and still get access to 3/4 of the bed. Just takes removing 4 hex bolts if I really wanted to take it off and it weighs around 50 to 60lbs.

I looked at the undercover and here are the negatives:

You have two locks(one on each side) and you have to unlock each one to open the cover . One lock in the center would have been much better.

You need to remove the finned tailgate OEM protector and buy and install a regular tailgate protector from your GM dealer for about $ 30. Undercover will not close with the finned protector in place.

Black plastic is not that attractive. Painted fiberglass covers look much nicer.

On the plus side, the cover is strong enough to stand on so you can use it as a platform to wash the truck's roof and rear window

Also, the cover is essentially leakproof, as opposed to merely "water resistant" for a folding type hardcover.

I just bought one and installed it a few weeks ago. I've already driven in a few heavy rainstorms, and the contents of my bed stayed bone dry. It is a well-made and lightweight cover but definately call a friend if you plan to remove it. It's a bit awkward for one man. It's very easy to remove though--no complaints there!!

There are 3 small issues from my POV: 1.) you must remove/replace the OE wide tailgate cap. That annoyed me. 2.) you may have to do some cutting to your plastic bedliner if you have one. No complications if you have a Rhino Lining. 3.) Due to the internal framework skeleton of the Undercover, you lose about 2 inches of height inside the bed itself. I have 18 inches of internal bed height with my cover and I've had no complications.

These flaws are minor I believe. I just wanted to give you a balanced opinion. Overall I love the thing and it looks sharp on my black Silvy. It perfectly matches the black plastic on my bumpers. You can't beat the price either. I payed $630.00.

Got one and its great. The 2 locks are annoying but it takes 2 guys less than a minute to remove/install. Watertight and looks fine on my black truck. The built in light is great.Since its not painted you dont have to worry as much about scratches and chips like a painted cover. Before you buy a folding cover go look at one thats a few years old, every one I saw looked horrible. Sometimes the simple designs are best. Highly recommended and affordable.

i know someone with the undercover and he really likes it. i have just a regular fiberglass one and i like it. the folding ones will eventually leek so im not really big on those. you will need to get a tailgate foam thing to stop the water from the tailgate openings but other than that its all personal preference and u should get what u want.

if you like the undercover - look into the armor lid. it is essentially the same thing and you can pick one up from ebay for $549.00 shipped!!

i saw them side by side at a truck accessory place here and i liked the armor lid better. it does not have all the support running underneath the lid exposed and the light was a little brighter.

I've looked at them but they don't look as strong as the undercover.

HMMM... what do you plan on doing with your cover that strength would be an issue? Their website says - "supports over 1000 pounds". that's certainly more than any fiberglass, roll up or fold up could support any day...

Anyway, just a thought.
