I need to know if anyone can help me I have a 1998 Envoy and I have a low beam headlight out. GM is telling me it will cost $600 to fix it. I don't find this to be reasonalbe by any means. Is there a way to bypass the balast? Is there a way to change the light system to an older style? Any information would help. Does anyone know how many complaints there have been about this issue? I was told that they were designed to never go out but GM won't stand behind it.

I have the exact same problem. Does anyone out there have a inexpensive fix for this? I will revert back to old Halogen lights if I need to. $650 for a replacement part not including labor is just ridiculous. Please Help!!!

No, I had the 9006 bulb and went to install it and it was no where near what I needed. It has a ballast ($650) & a ignitor ($325). It was an option for only this model of this year. And of course my girlfriend had to get that option. What a pain in the ass... Any suggestions??????

I found some pics of them. I see how the bulb is directly seated in the ballast. I cannot tell if the bulb can be removed. From what I researched, I dont see any replacements. You may have to find one off a boneyard, ebay or bend over and get it from the dealer.

If you can remove it, post a pic, we could tell you which bulb you need.
