Snow Plow

I was thinking about getting a snow plow for my 00' silverado Z71, I was just wondering whether or not anyone has had any trouble with them or not? I know I should be using a 2500 or something larger, but the 1500 is all I have to work with.

Any help would be useful. Also, what kinds of maintenance issues can I expect to have using the plow?

If you have the plow prep option (RPO Code VYU) than you are good to go. If not look into getting a trans cooler and install some Timbrins on the front.

I use a obs 1500 for plowing and agree with "builderpaul" get a trans cooler, if you plan on doing a lot of transport, 45mph+ driving with it.... ive found that meyer is a nice brand for the lighter duty trucks but it depends on what type of plowing your gona be doing(personal/commercial)....watch the weight on the plow u'd be suprised the differences between bands....just my 2 cents...as to the maintance...i guess your talking about the truck and not the plow itself.....i change the trans fluid in between uses with plow ....and alot washing the salt off
