Synethic

I know this has nothing to do with a truck but I know there are very knowledgable people in here and i trust them alot.

 

My mother is interested in switching to Synethic but its got almost 105,000 miles on it. She hardly drives it very much we bought it used and Oil was replaced every 4 - 5000 miles. I just made the switch to my 04 Silverado and seems like it runs smoother.

 

She bought some Castrol Full Synethic Oil which I guess is decent but I can tell its not as recommended as Mobil 1.

 

BTW what is the difference between Full and Part Synethic Oil. And if its ok for that car which one is recommended.

Go ahead and put in full synthetic, I'd use 10W30 mobil-1. It will NOT harm the engine. I started useing full synthetic in my 99 Silverado with 85,000 miles on it and had no problems at all. No leaks, no nothing.

I switched two very good/excellent condition used vechicles to M1, a 91 LeSabre 3.8L and a 00 Grand Prix 3.8L. Both had over 40K miles on dino oil and both leaked the M1 oil horribly after the switch. Luckily the extended warranty I purchased on both took care of the >$800 repair bills.
