P0300 DTC - Please help

Recommended Posts

Well - I start the truck this morning the MIL started to blink then I turned the truck off and started it again and the light was solid. I used a scan tool and found that it was a the p0300 engine code Random/Multiple Cylinder Mis-Fire.

However the truck seemed to run fine I didn't hear or feel any missing.

Where do I start? Is there a common solution and or a quick down and dirty testing? - I'm sure it goes without saying but - I would like to avoid the dealer is possible.

Thanks.

BTW Ambient Temp was at 17f today

I forgot - its a 2000 Yukon 5.3 with 118000 miles. Also I was just thinking my commute is all of about 2-3 miles. The truck never really warms up becuase of the cold temps. I wonder if that could have something to do with it?

Unfortunately, you'll need a better scan tool than just a code reader. A good shop should have one that can be used to see exactly which cylinder(s) are misfiring.

When was your last fuel filter replacement? When was your last bottle of injector cleaner added? These are a couple questions that come to mind quick as far as which direction to begin looking.

Hope this helps.

The fuel filter has been awhile as well as the injector cleaner. I'll change that stuff this week.

An suggestions on a scan tool that would do the job? Or is the Tech II the only one?
