JOE GIBBS DYNOED

Well I had the Joe Gibbs dynoed today, Its totally stock with 22" chrome wheels. I got 291rwhp and 315 torque. Joe claims 395hp crank. Thats over 25% loss. any thoughts. I'm getting it professionally dynoed tuned with some mods in the near future. This is just a baseline. ALSO this dyno was done at school not the place thats going to tune it.

Put the stock rims back on and then dyno...it will be hard to compare against Gibbs numbers if you're spinning rims larger than stock

I had mine on the dyno @ the Car Craft summer nats and put out 325 hp on a very hot day after driving 200 miles. 5.3 regular cab w/ radix and 4,000 miles. I think it would do a lot better now that is broken in.

30% drivetrain loss LOL LOL more like 15% anything over 20% is horrible. This is not a dodge.

Yeah the Dodges unfortanitly like my HEMI, are showing on avg a 22 to 25% loss. That is horrible. But there are ways to fix it.

I can't wait to get a chip for my Hemu Ram, so I can get it and my 5.3 on the dyno. The Hemi's hit the speed limter, before a full dyno can get in.

OMG!!!! Not to offend but that is kinda sad!!! Get rid of the crap tuning and try again! Ive seen alot of Radixed 5.3's making more power than that. My turd of a truck made 290/311 with just a cam and no tuning on big heavy ass SS wheels. What size pulley comes on that Gibbs truck anyway?

Todd@ ProDyno has a 04 Radixed 5.3rolled 367/397 with no tuning, on 22's mind you, before tuning!! After a full tune made 398/411.

Heres a guys graphs from LS1Tech. Although he does have a T56.

20% is normal for just the rear end, anytime a force has to change direction ( I.E. the ring and pinion) it will lose 15 to 20%

I think I got robbed on the dyno. Because of how they work @ the summer nats they have one of their guys dyno the cars(never did find out the speed). On the magnacharger website they claim 387 hp out of the gibbs and Tom Henry trucks with the 5.3 radix w/a 3.60 pulley @ 5.5 psi. Since then, My transmission was replaced and superchips updated my programmer. The truck does feel a lot faster now.

I also own a SS and the SS wheels are light compared to these chrome 22" wheels.

This was just a base run and I don't know if it was actually a accurate dyno run because it was done at school. I will be adding LS1 edit, Headers, exhaust cutout, shift kit, maybe a stall and 4.10 gears. Then I will dyno and see what numbers I can get.Oh and this gibbs has to run mid 13's by what i've raced.

That actually seems quite low. I would definitely think it would be higher than that!

Not that these can be directly compared, but my '02 Denali (all-wheel drive, 6.0 Liter) put down 281awhp/310awtq. Two different days within about a month. Hypertech, Flowmaster cat-back, that's it. (Put out the same with and without the Hypertech give or take 1 or 2). I know the dyno is accurate as I watched some others put down what they should. Sounds like your dyno might have read low.

Are they really lighter?? I figured these SS wheels were the most ungodly heavy things.... I have some.......
