Just looked at this truck on the web, if GM wants to compete in this segment they gotta come up with something new. 5.9L Cummins turbo diesel available.

Looks like a crew cab to me, with the epitomy of four real doors, unlike what they advertise as a real door on their quad cab.

I don't know what GM or Ford could do to counter because they've each been making actual crew cabs for years now. Probably no reason to change anything on them at this point.

First thing I though was.....Oh it's my crew cab. kudos the the engineers that thought that one up :)

I don't like the huge corner post behind the rear door.

People will buy it. Lots of people just buy something because it is the biggest or newest. It's a truck so there will be a market for it.

They have been competing! Dodge has not had a "real" crew cab. At least since I have been alive. The quad cab is an extended cab with conventional doors. That is all. This new Mega cab obviously has the extra room behind the rear seat. It looks stupid from the outside though. Dodge is the one who hasn't been competing, not GM. By the way, the new 07 redesign is supposed to have a more spacious "real" crew cab anyways. I know, "this thread is useless without pictures",but that is just what I read.

Being a single guy, the cab in my 04 is plenty big. Too big almost. Don't need a mega cab. Dodge is always trying to do things bigger and they end up looking like asses because they over-do it.

What are you talking about, my QC Ram's rear doors open wider than a Chevy CC. Its just the CC has more space in the rear seat, untill now.

I wouldn't worry about it. The CC of the Ford and Chevy have plenty of room.

What I wish Chevy would do is match this.

"The all-new 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab is covered by a 7-year/70,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. The Cummins Turbo Diesel engine is covered by a separate 7-year/100,000-mile warranty"

At least the 7year/70,000 warrenty standard would be nice.

Quad Cab doors do open wider, but. It still has the same dimensions as an extended cab. Regardless, if they open forward or backwards it has the small seat like a Ford or GM extended cab. My buddy has an 05 Dodge and the back seat is like riding in my old 99 ext. cab. And another thing. I drive a DMax. Guess what the warranty is on it? Yep 7yr/100,000 miles. After 36k miles a dodge just covers power train(limited). GM offers that same warranty out of the gates for a little money, but it is unlimited bumper to bumper.

I'm sorry but the Dodge QC has tons of more room than everything, other than the CC and Superduty.

I was refering to gas motors when I posted that. I just copied it off the site that was posted. I didn't mean to quote the Diesel part, I knew the Duramax had that warrenty.

But still my Dodge came standard with a 7year/70,000 powertrain warrenty. That was the point I was getting at. It seems the imports all have a better warrenty. I just hope the Big 3 jump on the band wagon and give us a better standard warrenty.

EDIT

Sorry my main point I failed to make was that Chevy nor Ford need to do anything. There CC are plenty big.

The only thing I see that would be a problem for me is that the thing looks almost too big. As it is the current CC trucks from GM, Ford, and Nissan are all just about right in overall length (even though I wish there was some way to have the same interior space combined with at least a 6'5" bed WITHOUT needing to make the overall trucks longer than the current CCs already are. :)).

If you think your getting that awesome warranty for free you are sadly mistaken. The cost of that warranty is added to the price of the truck and then they tell you its free. Go price a similarly equiped Chevy/GMC with the Dodge and chances are the Chevy will be a lot less. GM offers the same warranty except they give you the option of taking it or not. I have a seven year 72,000 mile warranty on my 02 Sub that cost me $1800.00. Don't be surprised if the comparible Chevy is about that much less than the Dodge. Nothing is free. :)

I bought my 2004 Ram for $2500 below dealer invoice, so I really don't think so.

At the time I bought mine there was no option to get a 3/36000 warranty.

MSRP for my truck was like 33 and I got it for 22+
