Duramax Fuel Mileage?

Just curious to see what the Duramax owners are getting for fuel mileage.

It really depends.

 

Avg according to DIC=16mpg

Road trip in the mountains(steep grades in CO and UT) below 75mph(DIC)=21mpg

Road trip on the interstate @ 85mph(DIC)=18mph

 

I learned that if you keep your highway speeds below 75mph you can get awesome fuel mileage, uphill or downhill. But, who drives those speeds anyways. Not me.

You do if you are towing something like my 28' fifth wheel travel trailer, but then you aren't going to get that mileage anyway. The best I got so far with my 8.1L is 12.5mpg with the cruise set at 70. Thanks for the input.

My neighbor has a 2002 EC 4x4 Durmax and he averages 18 or better at 70 on flat roads of course and all highway.

Truck was empty,

295 miles on Wed. DIC said 18.7 MPG mostly 60-72 MPH

Most of that was on free way, rest on Two lane 60 MPH and 49 miles in 4x4 doing 60MPH.

From Michigan City,IN. to Indy & back.
