Those who have roll covers or tonneau covers......

I will be purchasing a 05 Z71 ex cab, in the next few weeks, and need some measurements from anyone using a tonneau cover, or preferably a roll cover.

I have a 14ft alum boat that I will be sliding into the bed, and just want to make sure that it will slide in while the roll cover is in place. Does anyone know how many inches from the bottom of the truck bed, to the lowest point that a boat could conceavably hit or interfere with the sliding covers is. In other words, how deep is the box to the lowest part of the covers.

Not sure if this is clear enough, but I guess I'm asking- how deep is the box in inches, to the part where the roll cover would install and be functioning?

I have about 19" under the cover. It's a retrax. I have bedrail protectors that would make it a smidge higher than without them.

hmm, that's good to know. I dont know the exact depth of the boat. It is not very deep. Obviously towards the bow end it gets deeper, but I am more concerned with the back 6.5 feet as that is obviously the only portion that will be covered by the tonneau cover.

I am pretty sure, at the transom it is 19-20 inches, and right at the 6.5ft mark, the boat is around 24 inches deep. My main concern is having enough clearance to slid under the last 12 inches of the tonneau cover.....cuz I most likely will get a fold a cover, or roll type.....and I just want to be sure it will fit.

:D My truck in the sig. below has the GM cover (roll-up)...The answer to your question is simple...it is the height of the tail-gate...the cover has a end piece that goes across the top of the gate (which is easy to remove if you need too...)...that is the minimum depth you would have to slide something underneath...Is this what you want to know? As for the cover, very good...we have had some bad icing here in the NE and the cover comes right back to form, does not stretch out or anything of the sort. I really like the way it covers too...no buttons, uses a track system, really cool...the buttons are a pain...stretches the material out around them, very hard to mess with in the winter because of contraction...etc...get the GM model when you get your truck you will love it. Let me know if this is what you are asking...I think you may be asking about the covers that actually roll...mechanically... in that case I suppose it would be the same answer...let me know, later :chevy::D:cool:
