Replacement Bumpers

Im looking for a replacement front bumper with grill guard. I have seen a few trucks with a black diamond plated bumper. Anyone have one on their truck and if so any pics? I hit a deer last week and need to get front end repaired thought it would be a good time for an after market bumper.

I'll second the Ranch Hand bumper.

The one we had put on my wife's HD had some rust starting to come through on the welds and they replaced it with one that was Line-X'd at no charge. That's the kind of customer service I want backing the products I purchase, not to mention the freaking thing is built like it could take out a tank.

I have the Warn Heavy Duty on mine and it's great, just over a year and no problems. I did a lot of research before buying that incuded a first hand look at the Ranch Hand - No comparison in the fit and finish. You can also check out Road Armor for a little lighter one, the Warn is 500+ lbs. and is only made for 2500HDs.

Only con is the $$$

Just took delivery of the Trailready front winch bumper. It will fit my Warn M12000-- the install/beer party is this w/e, so i'llk post before and after pix, if this forum permits that. The OEM bumper came off with 6 bolts-- the hardest thing was finding the correct metric socket... argh!

I am going to have my Ranch Hand Legend Series and rear bumper put on tomorrow. I'll let you know what I think.

I am planning on taking some measurements to see how much the front end drops with that extra weight. I am going to adjust the t-bars accordingly as I will also have a cargo basket in the front receiver. I'll take some pics and post em' when I get done! Hopefully Tuesday night sometime...

In the meantime here is a good pic of one - not my truck though...

    • I’ve had several. The last was sold at the dealership hard with a soft top. They all leaked a little. The only one that didn’t was a topper. My supplier miss understood. It was supposed to be a painted match topper. I was getting ready for a trip couldn’t wait so I took it. It was easy to remove if needed and didn’t leak.
    • Very nice truck. I’m a strange one. I never considered trucks family vehicles. Work or personal vehicles for men. Watching kids or ladies climb into trucks can be amusing. I tried for retirement but the wife didn’t take long with her displeasure. That led to our first SUV. Now a minivan. People really miss the boat on that one. Even a midsized truck was vetoed. My wife’s car is off limits. That’s ok by me. I could do a full sized car ok. But for an old guy you have to sit first then bring the legs in. Then spin towards the door put both legs out then stand up. Mini vans are just high enough to step in and sit. Step out and walk. I hear the Toyota Crown is kinda like that. I’ll try that sometime. Go ahead and laugh, you’ll be old someday. A regular cab truck. I’m kinda looking for an older GM V-8. The Ridgeline is OK. But we’re not exactly speaking the same language. It’s a looker. But I’m missing that GM feeling, an old GM.
    • For clarity: per the manufacturer the 6.6L takes 8 quarts of oil with a filter replacement. I always add that amount which puts near the top of the dipstick range.
    • Looking to purchase a used Sierra and want to have a tonneau cover put on at the dealer if possible, to avoid the back-and-forth with shipping & delivery of a cover.  Does anyone have a tonneau cover they can recommend that is completely watertight?  I've had BakFlip MX4, Retrax, and it seemed like everything leaks water from light rain to a heavy downpour.   I've been asked by several clients to start a marketing business, I did marketing videos for them pro-bono over the past few years and they think I'd be great to do it professionally.  So the truck may have drones, laptops, cameras, and video production gear.  Everything is in Pelican cases, but I'm sure something will get wet such as paperwork or a backpack like I have experienced before.   The rest of the time this truck will be used for long trips towing a travel trailer, so I'd think a tonneau cover can also help if I'd like to equip the truck with bed rails to haul mountain bikes or a kayak.  I am even considering a topper if that would be best for the combined marketing/video/event production business & RVing use the truck will see.
    • Thank you.  I ended up passing on that truck, it was $29k with 99k miles and local to me (Illinois).  Played that game once before, passed a much better condition vehicle for one that was closer.  $10k in engine work and $6k in transmission work later, it never drove right, and by that point the age & mileage made it worth close to nothing.  I now remind myself, a plane ticket and an Uber is a lot cheaper than buying the local truck with issues and having buyer's remorse.   Now looking at this for $26k: https://southernwholesale.net/vdp/23915469/Used-2021-GMC-Sierra-1500-SLT-Crew-Cab-Short-Box-2WD-for-sale-in-Trussville-AL-35173 And AutoCheck looks good: https://autocheck.dealercarsearch.com/Default.aspx?VIN=EPWlh9Ow3ceghogyxJFSf4bAycMno2xr4%2fK1GUasMDw%3d&DealerId=25052   This one from Carmax is high ($32k), but some people swear by the Maxcare warranty: https://www.carmax.com/car-detail/27952269   And this one for $33k seems insanely high priced, but it got a new engine at 120k, and no mention of transmission work except for fluid changes: https://www.alejandrocars.com/inventory/2021-gmc-sierra-1500-127941   Just trying to not repeat my first used car purchase, being so underwater I had to sell it to a high school w/vocational shop class because nobody would buy a recently repaired lemon.
