Wheel they fit or not?

Ok - I am new to this post. I have reviewed many of the previous questions posed on tires and wheels. I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD. I have the original wheels and tires. I am looking at going up to a 285/75/16. Now about half of the pictures of people's rigs on this forum have 285's running on the original GMM wheels. However, I know that the 8" wheel is recommended. Now - money being tight and all. Would I be running a safety risk running 285's on my original wheels? At least until I can throw down the other half of the dough to pay for the wheels.

Tons of people are running them on stock, me included. I have yet to hear anyone have a problem due to running them on stock rims. I think the only risk you run is that if you do have some problem the tire maker or dealer can point to you not running them on a recommended rim and voiding the tire warranty.

The 285's will fit on the stock rims with no problem. I have a good friend who is a Chevy delaer and he puts them on every demo he drives and has never had any issues with it, other than a much improved look over the stock set up. :seeya:

Speaking of tires, I have seen conflicting views on this forum and others regarding the use of the 315-75/16 on the stock rim with no lift. The 315 is equivalent to a 35x12.50-16 and I have seen a few trucks with them on the factory rims with supposedly nothing more than raising the front end via the torsion bars. I'd appreciate anyone's input on this who may know more....

295/75/16 on stock wheels. No t-bar turns, just some trimming of the splash guard on driver's side and very slight trim to lower air dam.

they will fit fine- I think it rides much better with them on there. Looks a heck of a lot better that way too. Though I would advise the use of a aftermarket programer to fix your speedo and your DIC. And of course rotate them. Good Luck with it :seeya:
