What kind of oil pressure are you guys getting when your truck is warmed up in gear? What kind of motor is it?

My DMAX is pretty much the same except warm idle is a hair higher (25PSI). My 454 has a narrower band. Goes to about 40PSI on the top and 25PSI on the bottom, usuallly stays at around 30 (with 15W50).

My '01 8.1L runs now at about 70 psi when cold...just started a couple of oil changes ago. Used to run at 60psi. Any ideas? Should I be worried?

How many miles are on your oil filter?

 

Pressure sender could be going (higher resistance, etc...)

About 1K miles on the filter. I stay with old-fashioned 5W30 dino oil and change oil and filter every 3K miles, sometimes sooner.

Cold idle 60/75 PSI (Summer/winter)

Hot idle 30 PSI

Hot 'on the road' 60 PSI

 

Below zero cold 'on the road' can go as high as 90 PSI (which is why you don't put bargain-priced oil filters on a northern DuraMax -- the pressure will split the thin aluminum ones).
