Rough running tahoe

Anyone have any ideas about a rough running 2004 tahoe5.3 litre. The check engine light came on last night and I connected with Onstar who told me that the error codes were emmissions and fule system related. It runs very rough at low rpm's, barely noticable at highway speeds. and there is a terrible smell coming from teh exhaust. The truck has only 11,000 miles on it. Any ideas?

Need more info to be of any real help. Knowing the DTC's would be the first step.

Can I get those out of the truck without bringing it to Dealer? I am bringing it in on Monday, but it would be nice to know what the probelm is.

OnStar probably could have told you the actual DTC's (codes). There's no way to get the codes without a scanner. I understand some of the bigger auto parts places, like Autozone, will scan your computer and tell you what DTC's are in there.

turned out to be a fualty O2 sensor. Buy just as an FYI, OnStar refused to give me the codes, according to a new policy.

Hmmm, wonder why that is. Perhaps dealers were complaining that people could take that info and go somewhere else to get it fixed? Anyway, that'd be my first guess.

Wow On star now keeping information secret from the paying customer. Thats just bad buisness. Another strike against them. I wonder how long before they call the police on you for speeding.
