ATV question

I've been working a lot lately, and have a bit of extra cash to burn. So I've decided it would be a good time to buy that four wheeler I've been wanting for awhile. But having never bought a four wheeler before, I have no idea how much room you have to deal concerning price on a new ATV.

The ATV I am looking at is a Suzuki Z400, and the dealer said the MSRP is around $5600. This particular ATV is a 2004 model, and is the last one the dealership has. They told me to come up with a price, and they would see what they could do because they are really looking to get it off the lot since it is the only 04 left. So do you guys have any idea what kind of price I should start off at? I personally have no clue.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't think they would come down much, but you never know. I had an early 03' model and gave 5600 for it back then. I see used 04's occasionally in the 4200 - 4600 area, so 5000 for a new one may not be bad. I really loved mine, but an 18 month old kid and my cattle kept me to busy to ride it. I sold it and got an 01' polaris 500 HO.

I bought my '03 Z400 with the '04's sitting right next to it (same situation as you).

I paid $4999 for it.

But it's worth every penny.

This is what I was doing this weekend.

Good luck with the stealership....Oh, and don't buy any parts from them. You can get ATV parts for a fraction of the cost online. The dealers know this, and still won't budge on their prices.

Oh...And if it's your first ATV...BUY NERF BARS! It's all too easy to break your leg without them....Plus they help get you around trees in tight spots.

The dealers around here will deal more when it is a layover model like that. Sometimes your best deal. The thing is, that if it sits on their lot too long, they'll have to start paying interest on it. They hate doing this, because it cuts into profits and they hate to send it back to the factory. This is really the only thing to work with. These guys always know they have you by the cahonees and it makes me mad. :seeya:

I would just give them a price and see what they say. Just be honest and tell them what you will pay. All they can say is no, then they will have to find someone else to buy it.

There is also Z400Central.com...Pretty decent bunch of guys over there.

At least they were decent 3 or 4 months ago...I don't check in much there.

There's almost always several quads for sale if you're thinking of used.
