Electric Cooling Fan

Planning on putting an Electric Cooling Fan on my 04 4x4 to replace the clutch fan. Anyone done it? How much airflow and what model/brand best. I would like to keep the stock schroud if possible.

Some of the 05 trucks (if not all) have eectric fans instead of the clutch. Would probably be easy to adapt.

Also LS1 camaros had a set-up that is useful on the trucks.

summit has a kit that is specially designed for GM trucks also.

05 GM E-fans are very costly and they only fit the 34" radiator. FlexALite 292 or 282's fit very well but are still on the pricey side. ALSO, the FlexALite fan controller is a flaming pile of crap. Dont use it. If you do, do so at your own risk. They are a 12 volt firestarter!!! LS1 fans will work just as good to and can be had for $100 bucks or less.

To everyone who responded thanks. I have found the OEM fans at http://www.eadperformance.com/catalog/prod...products_id=402 for $219 and yes they will only fit the 34" rad but unless you have a V6 or base engine it should fit. My research has found that the GMT800 W/5.3 & 4x4 EXT cab have the larger rad's. I plan on getting the OEM listed above and making my own controller from a print out of a service manual. They are just about all the same. :wtf:

Alternative to building your own controller: http://www.dccontrol.com/

Credit goes to someone on this forum who originally posted the site - apparently DCC's controllers don't have a habit of catching fire.

Eventually I was planning on getting Flexalites (or equiv.) and one of these controllers to handle the system.

Edit - look at their technology page: Self-extinguishing PC boards are good things.

That DCC controller owns all!! That thing works awesome too!! I read about them on LS1Tech a while back. More and more people are buying them.
