ses light and o2 sensors

if my ses light comes on and the code showed it was relaated to an 02 sensor but the light goes out the next day does this tell me the problem took care of itself and i dont have to worry till the service engine soon light comes on again or do i need to go ahead and take a trip to the shop now?

Kind of surprising it cleared the next day. Here's why...

 

I believe once a code is set, it will only get cleared after 3 complete cycles of Cold Truck, up to operating "closed loop" operation, complete cool down. After 3 cycles with no more problems, the code will clear.

 

Having said that, my wife drove 2 years in a vehicle that would throw an 02 sensor code every 4 months. My mechanic would reset it and tell me not to worry unless it runs rough or mileage drops.

 

I just changed 2 on my Taho at arouns 115K.
