Does de-badging effect the resale value?

go for it, if you're worried about resale value just take your time and make sure you don't break the badges when you remove them.  98% of the people won't care and most wouldn't even notice.  I would recommend it anyways if you are going to use zaino since they are just a few less obstacles to work around.

I think the trucks look better with the badges taken off but, what I would be concerned with is if you take off the door moulding is that it will make it much easier to get door dings.

The moulding seems to do a good job of protecting the doors and I think without them you won't be happy.

Just my thoughts.

I am keeping the moldings.  Even though they are pretty small on the GMC compared to my Silverado.  I am hoping the Nerfs will help also.

No offense to anyone, but I don't understand why people take off the moldings.  It makes it look like the cheap SL version work truck w/out them.  Why would buy the better model and then pull everything off?

I don't like the new black plastic moldings on the Chevy's though.  My 2000 came w/painted moldings.  Why did Chevy paint them in 99 & 00 and then stop in later 00 & 01's?

hey, I'll have you know that mine is the cheap version so I didn't feel all that bad about removing the stickers off the doors and tailgates.  It looks a lot better.  The "CHEVROLET" on the tailgate, just looked too big and tacky.  Plus, no one can tell that mine is a base model, at first glance most would assume it's a LS or LT

You where smart though.  You paid less and bought it already w/out them.  Then added everything to it..

I'm talking about those that pay extra for it and then take it off.

Yours had the big CHEVROLET sticker on the tailgate and 1500 stickers on the doors?  You can't tell...

I am probably going to remove the plastic GMC2500HD badges on the side.

Being the poor young guy I am w/ a lot of time on my hands and knowing that I'd probably tear the truck apart anyways.  I figured that I could get take off parts online and from junkyards and build my truck into an LT and perhaps even better for less money than it would cost.  So far this is proving to be true.  The only things that I have left to do is my leather seat covers, power accesories on the doors, and put up my overhead console.  I figure stick w/ the seats the way they are instead of shelling out the cash for the buckets.  The only difference is that the buckets have an armrest and that's not worth 600 bucks to me.

I took all the moldings & badges off my truck because I didn't like the way they looked.  I like the smooth look much better anyways.

As far as someone else confusing my truck with a base model, who cares?  I don't.  Other than the small LS/LT badges, you can't tell the difference between an LS with leather & an LT from the outside anyways.

BTW, I aslo removed all the moldings & badges off of my old 99 3/4 ton.  When I traded it in, I sure couldn't tell I lost any value.  The dealer guy even commented on how "clean" my truck looked.

I just did the badge delete, I used a fishing line and got behind the badge and "sawed" the foam out behind the badge, being careful not to touch the paint, the badge is completely intact If someone wants to reinstall them later would be noo problem they woud only need some double sided tape, the foam on the 2500HD on the sides sides and chevrolet foam came off pretty easy by hand but the silverado on the tailgate was a pain in the butt, after the foam there was adhesive I used some citra solv on them others had good luck with Goo-Gone

If u are careful and take your time expect about 4 hours if none of them give u anny trouble them maybe a lot quicker

the side molding on the gmc's is a lot more atractive than the chevy molding, the chevy's look better without it but are verry un protected, the gmc's look better with it in most cases

on a similar note anybody got the part #'s for the gmc molding?

Personally, I like the stuff on there, like the 4x4 on the back of the bed.  Would it keep me from buying a truck if it had no stickers on it?  No, I'd just spend the 6 bucks or whatever to get new ones to put on.

If you like the look, go for it.  I'd think if you took any hit in resale it would be so minimal that you wouldn't notice.
