aftermarket tpm sensors?

Are there any aftermarket tpm sensors that will work with the gm monitor? I want to install 20" wheel on my Denali XL, but the stock sensors will not sit flush on the wheel. Is there a band type sensor that will work with the gm system? Could I possibly mount the stock sensors on the inside of the wheel and still get readings? If neither of those is possible, can the dealer, or myself, disable the system so I do not get warnings every time I start the truck?

Dunno if mounting the inside the wheel would work. We cannot disable the TPM in service, that I'm aware of. Seems to me I looked into it once for one guy and there was nothing I could do.

Would it cause a problem if the sensors are not sitting against the wheel. I know that I would have to make sure that the tire installer knows that they are in there, but I was just wondering if they would still work correctly.

The sensors are only used for tire pressure, so if you can live with the warning message, that's the only problem you'll have. As for mounting the sensors somewhere else within the whee/tire assembly, all I can say is, you'll just have to try it. It may work or it may not.

I guess what I was trying to say was, does the sensor have to sit flat against the wheel? If I have them installed as they should be, the sensor will stick out away from the wheel. Do you think that I will still get a proper reading? I am guessing that the only reason that the sensor is against the wheel is to ensure that it does not get damaged during the mounting of the tire.

Our service information doesn't say, "If you have custom wheels you can just tape the sensor anywhere on the inside of the wheel." Of course they're going to say it won't work properly if not mounted properly, but that doesn't mean it absolutely, positively won't. People have found all sorts of ways around things that aren't supposed to work.

There's only one way you're going to find out and I ain't sayin' it again.
