Gibson Supertruck Exhaust

I know that the dual out the back Flowmaster is the proverbial aftermarket exhaust for trucks, but I've been interested in the Gibson Supertruck exhaust. Looks like something out of the NASCAR series. Anyone have any experience with it? Is it loud? Providing I don't lose my mind and trade my truck in for something else (H2 maybe?), I'll want to start the mods with the exhaust. Thanks in advance.

When adding an aftermarket exhaust, you need to watch for two things. The first being loss of lowend torque, the second in cab resonance. I understand that the Supertruck exhaust is the most aggressive out of the Gibson line in terms of sound. You may want to consider this if in cab resonance bothers you. I had the Gibson sweptside and the resonance between 1700-2000 rpm was unacceptable.

I will second that - there is a lot of resonance in the 1700-2000 range - still new, but may not make the cut - someone reccommended PV mufflers as an alternative - they don't seem to have them for the 8.1L though. :blush:

yes I agree, res in the cab is bad...kills low end seems to pick up on big end...sounds good outside...not what i would want for a daily driver

1700-2000 rpm huh? That's right around the freeway cruising RPM. That could get annoying. Fortunately I am a subscriber of the "mechanic's fix" for all squeaks, rattles, and other noises. Just crank up the stereo. I still deciding on it. I knew it would be loud, but I'm kinda turned off to it because you can't get it in stainless steel.
