383 engine swap

Can a 383 engine be swapped into a 97 half ton with a 4L60E trans? GM sells two very promising crate engines, the zz383 and the ht383, I am concerned about passing strict smog testing and whether or not the trans will hold up. Will a 4L80E trans bolt in and work with the obd2 computer?

As long as you run a aux cooler and not running tall gears with big rubber the 4L60E will hold up just fine. BTW if you switch to a 80 you will lose your 3.09 first gear for a 2.48 one also and have ruffly a 22% taller starting ratio in first gear with that swap too.
