8.1 on order - need intake

Just ordered a Sport Red 2500HD CC SB 4x4 with 8.1 / 6 speed / 4.10 / locker - dual batts - 145 amp alternator & some other niceities.

Need some advice on intakes. Who makes a nice "quality" unit? I heard a lot about Volant. Any good?

I have a Volant on my 8.1. Seems to work well. Don't hear the sucking-rush-of-air when you hit the throttle like I do in my Wife's Burban (she has K&N FIPK).

I will tell you I had to make some adjustments to the intake tube. It did NOT seal well against the throttle body. Volant was good about sending me a replacement, but it didn't seal well either. I ended up wrapping some electrical tape around the throttle body to get a good seal.

All in all I'm pleased. I would recommend getting the Westers at some point in time. I got my truck new last March, put the Volant on in July, then got Westers last November. Wanted to give the truck time to break in and get adjusted.

I'm getting a little over 10 MPG city and pulled a best of 15 MPG highway last weekend. You may be able to do even better with the manual tranny!
