Chevy or GMC?

If I was to buy a new 1500 extended cab sb 2wd, would you go with GMC or Chevy? I mean, what's the difference? I like the GMC grill more, and it seems to be ? cheaper?

I would go with the one I thought looked better.  They are relatively the same vehicle, just different badging and grills.  If you like the GMC, and see it cheaper, go for it.  Welcome to the Forum-

Hmn.. it seems the Chevy is a little more luxurious? This would be a daily-driver type thing, so I can tow my vette when it breaks down!

I remember a post from someone who talked about seeing a Chevy come off the truck with 2 left side wheels being GMC.  Dont know if that story is true but it should give you an indication of how much difference... not a whole lot....  Badging and small items I believe.  The real difference is that big strong macho good looking rich guys buy GMC.  Everyone else Chevy. :wink:

Welcome to the forum.  I prefer the looks of the Chevy's myself.  I've always liked the bar that runs across the grill of them.  I like the GMC's also though.  Basicaly the same truck, different styling.  I guess the price depends on where your at.  The GMC's are always higher around my area.

FWIW:

 I purchased my 2001 GMC SLE EXT CAB Fleetside truck for exactly ?,995.  This figure included tax, title and everything --  No trade in.  I wrote the check for this amount.

My truck has the 4.8 V-8 and is otherwise well equipped.

I always thought GMC's were more expensive than their Chevy twins.  I was surprised.  My local Chevy dealer could only match this price by offering me a 6 cylinder version of the same truck without the SLE package. (GMC's don't get 6 cylinders at all in this particular truck).  

In the GMC SL = Base Model   SLE = Power windows etc

and SLT = Top of the line with leather etc..

Chevy doesn't name the base model, but the LS and LT are the same essentially as the SLE and SLT.

Years ago GMC's were a heavier duty truck.  These days they come down the same line and change a few cosmetic items to alter their appearance.   It also was true that GMC's were a little more expensive, and would have slightly better retail $'s, but I don't know that it is true any more.

I'd buy what ever is most appealing to you.  Either way you're going to get one darn nice truck!!!

My dad has always had Chevy trucks, so I'm obviously biased towards them. Besides they make the only truck...  ;)

Beside the cosmetic differences. I've always heard the GMCs had better "little things," such as bushings, bearings, sound protection and bigger mirrors for those good-looking, rich fellas to admire themselves in.

A couple of years ago, I was looking at GMCs as well as Chevys when I was looking at Tahoes/Yukons. I had always seen that the GMCs were higher priced, but the dealer said he'd work with me. He didn't work with me as well as the Chevy guy however. He did tell me that he could get the price of a truck down almost as much as a Chevy.

He was touting the fact that since fewer GMCs were made, they had higher resale value. I told him that I figured that they made fewer because they sold fewer.

 I always thought the new GMC's were supposed to be more luxurious.  GMC's are your Daddy's truck, when he needs more amenities and creature comforts but still wants a truck.  They look so similar, I'd get a Chevy for working or hauling and a GMC, for daily driving or towing your Airstream as a fulltime RV'er-

Honestly the reason I ended up with GMC was purely because I found the vehicle closest to what I wanted in either Slvrdo/Sierra at a GMC dealer.  Either would have been fine..
