Stalling Tahoe

My Tahoe has just started a new problem, it seems to have developed a slight miss, but it stalls very bad when you try to give it gas. If you ease into the pedal, it will do ok, but if you try to speed up normal, it stalls and spits. It has not died on my yet, just cuts out. I also think I notice a strange growl type of sound at idle that has not been there before. It is a 1997 350 4x4 Just did new plugs/wires cap and rotor and air filter about 2 weeks ago. Any ideas?

Took it out for another drive to see what was going on, while I was driving, it died dead!! It wouldnt even try to start. I had to have it towed to my mechanic. I will update when I know what happened.

Turns out to be the fuel pump. It has whisteled since the day I bought it. 118,000 miles on the truck now. The price for the pump, and install was $505.00 does that price seem fair, I didnt expect it to cost that much?

Thats about what I paid to have mine done at the GM dealer. Mine was 99 Tahoe with about 70k when it failed.

Sounds like the whistle isn't coming from the pump, but maybe instead from the plumbing.
