Hey guys, I'm looking for a factory 99-02 AM/FM/CD Delco factory deck for my 2001 Silverado. I'm planning a bulb swap and would like to do this on a secondary deck in case I screw up. :chevy:

So if you have your stock one lying around collecting dust let me know please.

You can email me at [email protected]

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks man! That really helps, I'll be headed to Radio Shack soon then... really appreciate it.

I'll have to put a full how-to on my site when I do it, thanks for the help.

Edit:

Just called, they only have clear... any idea where I could find blue ones?

The light bulbs are clear. The letters on the buttons are tinted.

Oh, gotcha... I didn't see where it said that, what did you use to tint them, just a blue permanent marker or something? Do you have to take the deck apart to remove the buttons?

The buttons are like that from the factory. Actually, there is a plastic reflector that makes the white light appear blue when you look at the buttons fromt the outside.

Once you take it apart, you'll understand what I mean. The reflector is used because one light bulb will illuminate two or more buttons. The whole face plate, including the buttons, comes off the unit to access the printed circuit board with the light bulbs soldered onto it.

Once you get it apart, you'll understand all of this.

Yep, saw that... it actually fell out when I took it apart. Once I took it apart I looked at it, put it back together and re-installed it.

:)

Worked out alright though, I'm buying the one posted above and just replacing it. Kind of gave up on the blue bulb idea, although it would look sweet!

Thanks for all the help though, now I know why a place wanted $65 for labor!
