I was looking around GM's ordering site for 06 and it looks like the Allison gets another gear making it a 6 speed, no suprise, but I was looking at the duramax rating numbers and they are down from 05. Don't know why this is hopefully someone does. It also looks like GM dropped the camper style mirrors and have gone to verticals similar to Ford's super dutys. Below are the Dmax numbers

Maybe they're choking it down to reduce PM2.5 pollution. Are there new pollution regulations for 2006 vehicles in general?

I'm about 99.9% sure that these are the numbers for the de-tuned Duramax that is being put into the full-sized vans for 2006. It will not be paired with the Allison transmission and therefore had to be tuned for lower output to avoid tranny damage. The Duramax numbers for the pickup trucks will almost certainly not go down, but there are rumors that an increase is possible to go along with the new 6 speed version of the Allison in 2006.

I got the numbers from the 3500 truck section, but your still probably right. if you look at the 2005 numbers the have HP ratings for manual and auto trannys so GM will probably update in the near future.

Icho- there's a dealer ordering web page that lists all info related to each vehicle; options, specs and common build RPO codes. I can't post the link because its a GM site not typically available to the public but if you search under google you might be able to find it.

try 2005 online order and reference guide.

The 250 Horsepower and 460 ft lbs of torque is for the Chevy/GMC Vans, i was just looking at the 06 changes and that number is for the GM vans not the HD Silverado.
