...and yet another muffler question...

I'm really intrigued by the Aero Turbine muffler. I see that they also offer a resonator for wimps like me that don't like the constant drone at cruising speed.

Now the question of the hour... (drumroll)...

Does the resonator go before or after the muffler. Should the muffler be mounted closer or farther away from the engine?

Everything I've ever seen the resonator goes up stream from the muffler.

Yes and as close to tail pipe tip/end as possible too.

Ok, now I'm confused - before or after the muffler?

Upstream = before the muffler

Close to the tailpipe = after the muffler

Does it make a difference?

:tear::confused::confused:

The "tail pipe tip" is at the end of the exhaust system on rear of vehical so you place it AFTER muffler and as close to the "end" of the system as possible. In the old days they used to put the resonator(s) near rear bumber under vehical with a short tail pipe tip attached to it sticking out the back of the vehical.

so you put on 2?

If you have dual exhaust you do, if it is a single you only need one. nearly 30 years ago I had a Chevy Impala ss with a 396 and dual exhaust with factory dual exhaust and resenators. It was a trip because it was quite yet very powerfull and the only thing you heard was the 4bbl moaning when you were into it.

I talked to a couple of muffler shops about the Aero Turbine muffler, they said if I want quiet rumble this is not the muffler, it's LOUD. They suggested a muffler called Flo Pro. I think I've noticed a couple of references to that muffler. Anybody care to comment on them. Their website shows some direct replacement for the GM HDs.
