Sirius indoors

I want to know peoples experiences with Sirius inthe home or office. I want satellite at work. I like Sirius but dont know how well or even if it will work at my office. Few guys have XM and it works flawless. I dug around on Sirius Backstage forums and saw many have issues with Sirius indoors unless the antenna was put right in a window. That said, who here has good luck with Sirius in their office or house withouth the antenna on the roof or in a window? I found a good deal on an XM boombox at best buy last night for 100 bucks out the door. It wasnt a Delphi boombox or anything. It is a boombox that has an XM unit built into it along with an MP3/CD player.

I know this won't help any but I have my XM antenna in between my window & the screen on the sill, in my office, and it works great....theoretically, as long as you are in view of the satellite.....you should get a signal.

Yea. The guys I work somewhat close to just have their antennas pointing to the south wall and it works great. I may just get the XM bowtie boombox and call it good.

I have a Sirius receiver in my house without having the antenna in or near a window with perfect reception, BUT there is a Sirius terrestrial repeater in my area. I tried using the same receiver/antenna in my office with no luck.

I believe that the XM infrustructure includes many more terrestrial repeaters than Sirius which is why you'd hear more people having good luck with XM indoors.

Sirius does offer internet streaming but the sound quality is just not the same as the real thing. Even with that said, I'd prefer lowered quality Sirius to XM any day. Sirius' content is by far superior.

One other thing to note, if you have tinted windows between the antennae and the sky, they will block the signal. Found that out when we put window film on the south facing house windows...
