Wheel Width

The 2500 Suburbans come with 16" x 6.5" wheels. I like the way they look, but I want to put bigger tires on them. Can you put 285/75/16's on the stock wheels?

 

If anyone has photos of this tire size/wheel size combination, please post them.

 

If 285s are too big, how do 265s look? Again, photo posts appreciated.

There are a ton of us here with 285/75/r16s on stock wheels.

 

While not a 2500, my '92 has them on NBS stock wheels.

 

16 X 8 wheels would be a bit more ideal for the 285 width, but the 6.5s will work fine.

I have a buddy over in F*rd Truck World with 285s on his F150 Lariat. I think his rims are the same size. They look great, except he was telling me that on a narrow rim like that the tire comes over the rim. If that makes any sense...But I was talkin' to him about it and he says they ride fine and havn't had any problems "rolling" his tires in rough terrain.

no problems here on my OBS with stock 16" wheels and 285's

 

 

and I do actually take my truck through some nasty terrain, mud, rocks, ruts that take control of my truck like its on roller coaster rails, and my tires have given me no problems
