Does anyone know if you can swap out the push button 4wd for the good old floor shift and if so what is all required?

Thanks for any and all info.

You would have to change the transfer case, install the floor shifter & reprogram the PCM & BCM also my require different driveshafts.

Why do you want to change?

Honestly, I would prefer to have mine on the floor. My reasoning would be that you always know by the feel that it's "in".

On my previous truck, I had a different reason for wanting it on the floor instead of the dash. It was a 98 Ford F-150, and the knob for the 4x4 looked just like the knob for the fan for the air conditioner/heater fan, and it was right next to the darned fan knob, too. I can't count the times that it was dark, and I was cold, and I reached over blindly, and shifted into 4x4 Lo before I realized what I had done. Thankfully, the ford engineers put a "dummy" fix into the system, and apparantly you can't shift into 4x4 Low above a certain speed. I would've given anything for the shift lever in the floor on my old truck.

On my 02 GMC it has the push button, and I bought it used. It wasn't worth looking further for another truck just like it without the push button 4x4. I really haven't had any problems with the push button on this one. Guess it's just reminents of always having the 4x4 stick in the floor up until my last truck that taints my views :seeya:

I would just like to stop my front drive shaft from turning all the time. Yes it is an Autotrac, but it is only running in 2 wd, and the front drive shaft is still being driven.

Any conversions for this? Or is only a swap to an old style TC / Atlas?
