I am going to be a complete n00b and ask a dumb question. Sorry if this has already been asked. I am completely ignorant when it comes to wiring up electronics in my vehicle. I just recently bought a new Autometer tach and I have no I idea how to hook it up to the ignition (it is a 1978 Jimmy 4x4 with HEI). Can anyone help?

Thank you in advance.

Pretty sure they should be a tach wire hook up on the distrib. the one labed signal goes there. the other 2 should be hot and ground.

I need more info about it, so I can find some wire diagrams for that tack, and then I can tell you exactly how to wire it

It's a Autometer 5'' tach. Nothing special just 4 wires coming off pf it. The ground, power don't trouble me it's the hooking up to the dist that is confusing me. I have no idea of where to hook it up.

Thank you.

The tack signal wires goes to the distributer connector, the one marked tack on the top on the square connector block. you can use a 1/4" female spade ternimal wire end. It will plug into the bottom where I marked a red line in the pic. Your fourth wire on the tack is for the backlighting and you can wire that to a dash light wire (positive 12 volt)
