Raising $$$ for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

In an attempt to jump-start my fitness program, meet others, and help a worthy cause, I attended the Florida Suncoast Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training Fall 2005 kick-off in St Pete, FL on Weds evening (May 25).

I have agreed to invest my time and talents in Team in Training, a program to raise funds and complete a 100 mile century (bicycle) ride to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The event that I am now in training to participate in is the Tri-State Seacoast Century - Hampton Beach, NH.

From the literature I was provided: "Proceeds from the Team in Training program will support extensive research and local patient aid programs for leukemia and all blood cancers. Leukemia is the number one cancer fatal to children and affects ten times as many adults. Research to find a cure for this disease is progressing and we are pleased to be able to report that some types of childhood leukemia are now experiencing an 80% cure rate. We still have a long way to go and the support of volunteers involved in the Team in Training program is vital to our goal of finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and their related diseases."

The Minimum Fundraising Goal is $3700 per participant. I need to raise $1234 by July 15, 2005 and the remaining balance by September 9, 2005.
