Jiffy lube stopped carrying Mobil1. They now offer Penzoil Synthetic and (obviously) claim it is better.

I am considering swtching over to synthetic ATF and wondered if y'all have any experience with Pennzoil.

All I've heard is bad things about Penzoil I personally haven't seen any hard facts that show Penzoil is bad but I only will use Mobil-1 or Valvoline motor oils in my vehicles as for the ATF, I think I'll just stick to what the dealer puts in, I don't think there will be any benifit to running synthetic in the transmission.

If you don't want to do it yourself try WalMart for a low price. I don't know if I would trust those guys either. The only filter they have is Fram so if you want something different you have to bring your own.

If I were only going to run synthetics in one place the tranny would be it. Heat is a trannys worst enemy, synthetics will stand up to heat better than a dino ATF.

Pennzoil synthetic is not better than M1. Pennzoil is a group III which is a highly refined dino oil,M1 is a group IIII which is fully synthetic. Not that a group III is bad,its just that you'll be paying as much for a group III as you will for a group IIII,doesn't make much sense to me.

Maybe ask them if they will use whatever oil you bring in. You pay them to change the oil but have them use M1 instead. If they'll do that for you,I'd watch to be sure they don't stash the M1 for themselves and use the Pennzoil anyways.

Thanks guys, I think I'll stick to M1. I'll just have to find another place to get it done.
