I need new cat's. Anything better than stock?

I've got a 2000 Chevy ECSB with the 5.3L. Is there any better cat set up to go with? If I'm replacing, I might as well upgrade!

Magnaflow and Dynomax both make high flow cats. I believe the one of them can be fitted with 02 sensors to satisfy your ECU. they are cheaper than stock also.

Random Technologies is another High Flow.

 

But these days the OEM three stage cats aren't really a hinderance.

 

Except maybe for age and the Platinum/Rhodium stage and/or the Platinum/Palladium stage is depleted, if the cats are clogged, it's an indicator that something farther upstream has a problem.

Seafoam and BG products are supposed to help clean out cats.

It's not the carbon that cloggs the cats.

 

Too lean melts the pellets to impassible mass.

Too rich saturates the pellets with fuel (not sure what this actually causes)

 

Thus indicator of problem before the cats.
