I tried to search these forums to check if anyone had a topic on gas stations but had trouble doing so.

 

Hopefully this is a new topic but if not sorry.

 

I am curious as to your performance based on different gas stations. Here are my results using 87 octane (I use nothing else) and similar driving conditions and averaged over 5 tanks. Including with and without towing.

 

Sheets: 12.8 mpg and tows well (normally mid price)

Valero: 12.3 mpg tows the best and best get up and go (normally mid price)

WaWa: 12.4 mpg and pings while towing (pretty cheap price)

RaceTrac: 12.7 mpg and tows ok (on the low end of price)

Rennies: 12.8 mpg and tows well (like sheets)

East Coast: 11.7 mpg and pings while towing (normally mid price)

Sams Club: 12.3 mpg and tows terrible but no pinging (the cheapest price)

Chevron: 12.4 and is like Valero but only 15-20 cents more than all of the above

Texaco: not sure too expensive

BP: not sure too expensive

I always use Sheets gas too, I get 11.3 MPG with the 8.1L now that it is warm, in the winter I got 10.5

I believe his data is for the 6.0 in a 04 2500HD

what motor do you have ?

You would be correct. I have a 2004 6.0L 4x4 ext cab short bed.

my 6.0L gets 8mpg and it doesnt matter where I fill up cause it drinks it too fast anyway. Oh well I got a big beast, just gotta feed it a lot.

8mpg seems rather low for the 6.0. Have you ever had your pcm updated?

No... its mainly because I do a lot of short trips to work and there are a lot of hills here in SWPA. If I get it out on the highway it gets 15mpg.
