Replacing the Fuel Pressure Regulator

Greetings,

I need to replace the FP regulator on my 2001 Silverado (5.3l). I need advice on how to bleed off the rail pressure as to avoid a flood of fuel when the regulator is removed. Any ideas? ( I do not have a FP gauge with a bleed off valve).

You can hold a rag over the schrader valve on the fuel rail and press with a screwdriver until no more fuel comes out or you can remove the fuel pump fuse and start the truck until the truck dies.
